Second Annual Whitewater Photography
Competition
Last year's March
Madness Whitewater Photography Competition was a success despite
being drawn out longer than expected. We had to slim it down to 30
entrants and ended up with over a hundred thousand page views. It would
seem that with California experiencing a severe drought that I'd have
more time to dedicate to this project, but more time has been spent
driving to chase water. That, combined with my contact leaving Werner
paddles and WRSI selling to NRS means that I have not yet garnered any
official sponsors.
I'm actually more excited for this years competition. We had some great
new talent last year and I can't wait to see how some of the
competitors photography has progressed in the last 12 months.
The format will remain similar to last year with a few key changes.
First, the judging will be done in house as this was the source of the
largest delays last year. Submissions will be sent to Daniel Brasuell,
who will make them anonymous and forward to me. The judging will be
done by myself, Shannamar Dewey, PhD and the popular vote. Second, no
repeat images from last year.
What happens next? Contestants
need to enter one portrait image of themselves (preferably humorous)
and a ten word biography to
darin@darinmcquoid.com. First come first serve!
