Whew life is still busy. Has
married life changed much? Hard to say, perhaps so as this was the
first time my better half was able to join in on an adventure to Upper
Cherry Creek. As she is recovering from shoulder surgery it was alas,
not for paddling, but for hiking. Still it was incredible to meet up at
Flinstone Camp, and our trip was memorable. A few years ago Rok Sribar
and I did Upper Cherry with Yoshihiro Takahashi, but flows were too
high to run any of the named rapids. This time it was still high, but
we were able to run most of the big rapids. The new gauge sure shows
how this river jumps up and down as it rains, and rain it has with May
having ~190% of normal precipitation.
Three runs down Upper Cherry in one year. I never saw that happening.
Every time it seems like the hike can't be worth it, but one of the
strangest traits of humans is our ability to forget pain and suffering.
The suffering is almost over here, as we finish the final mile over
Styx Pass.

On the photography side of things
I have been shooting nothing outside of the river trips here and there.
At the moment incredibly torn between the A7 and A6000. There is some
magic in full frame that can't be denied. There is some magic in small
size and 11fps that can't be denied. I can't decide which fits my style
better, but in the end the prime lenses and A7 will probably win out
because they fit my personal taste better (and are more durable than
complex zooms)
Scott Sady shot our wedding and I was incredibly impressed with
his ability and jealous of his innate ability to be at the right spot
at the right time. In some ways it reminded me of Didier Drogba's
ability to be in just the right spot at the right time to score the
goal. I'm sure a large part of that has to do with experience. More to
share from that soon, for now we are awaiting another container of
boats, some road tripping and possibly a trip to Europe as well.
